EFT & Energy Healing

What is EFT?  How can it help me?  

EFT (otherwise known as the Emotional Freedom Technique or Tapping) is one of the best Energy Therapies and is simplified version of Acupuncture, without the needles. You simply tap on certain energy points (meridians) around the body with your fingertips.

Energy Therapy works by neutralising or releasing the negative energy blocks. It is pain free and usually very gentle on your emotions, if you choose to work with a qualified practitioner.  You can use EFT to combat stress with immediate effects OR you can dig deeper and use it to get to the core issues of the stress (or any other symptoms or negative issues that you have).

Does EFT really work?

EFT is one of the main forms of Energy Healing that I use as part of the 7 Step Process on the Healing That Feeling Programme. Yes, it looks a bit silly(!) But I am a perfect example of how well it works, as I used it successfully on myself well before I started using it with clients.

If EFT is so easy, why do I need a practitioner?

You can work on your issues on your own.  In some cases, such as serious trauma, longstanding depression or a phobia - it is always best to work with somebody that knows all of the varied techniques with EFT (or any other form of Healing).  The reason being is that Energy Healing, and especially EFT, works by removing layers of the problem as you go, therefore, if you don't know what you are doing, you could uncover some very traumatic emotions that have been buried and not know how to shift them or deal with them effectively.  EFT Practitioners are trained to avoid this.

However, for controlling daily stress or dealing with emotional issues at a slower pace, I highly recommend that you use EFT yourself.  It's very easy to get started.  See my FREE EFT PAGE for details.

TIP; If you do uncover some painful or emotional issues - KEEP TAPPING!  Don't stop, breathe deeply as you tap but keep going until you tap the intensity of the emotions down. 

The great thing about Energy Healing is that once it is dealt with, you won't need to do it again.

Do I have to believe in Energy Healing, EFT or any of the other techniques that you use for the process to work?

Obviously the more committed you are, the more likely the process will work for you.  But all I ask in the beginning is that you simply have to have an open mind - just give it a try.  When I first started using these techniques, I wasn't sure that they would work.  But I carried on testing and that's how I developed this process.  Sometimes, things just didn't work for me, but other things did - I never gave up and kept an open mind and in the end I developed a system that has over an 90% success rate! 

The only downside is that it will only work IF YOU TRY IT.  It will not work if you don't put the process into action, just reading about it and doing nothing, will not help you.   If you take action and follow the steps, it will transform your life in many ways. You will quickly become a believer no matter how sceptical you start out at the beginning.


Reiki

What is Reiki?  Can I use it?  How do I become attuned?

"Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing.  It is administered by "laying on hands" and is based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one's "life force energy" is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy".

"The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words - Rei which means "God's Wisdom or the Higher Power" and Ki which is "life force energy". So Reiki is actually "spiritually guided life force energy."

I've been using Reiki for over 12 years now and I can honestly say that it has made a huge different to my ability to control my stress levels AND my ability to heal and stay healthy.  In addition to the above description from Reiki.org I would go further and say that if our energy is out of sync or unbalanced we can become sick or feel stressed, using Reiki on a regular basis will help your energy to stay in balance. 

Anybody can use it, although you need to be attuned.  Attunements are simple and are not costly (they used to be extremely expensive). If you are interested in becoming attuned, please let me know and I will be happy to advise you. 

I am a Reiki Master and able to attune you to traditional Usui Reiki, Gold Reiki, Worthiness Reiki and others.

What Reiki is NOT - Reiki is not based on any particular religion.  It is not, and can never be harmful, although after a few treatment or attunement you may suffer from some mild side effects as your energy rebalances.  This can usually be overcome by drinking more water.  Reiki is brilliant for many things, but as with all Energy Healing, it is better suited to some ailments and issues, than others. It didn't help me at all with my phobia, or help me to overcome my past trauma - which is why I use it alongside other techniques such as EFT and Visualisations in the Healing That Feeling 7 Step Programme.


Are the attunements the same for everybody?

From my point of view, yes.  I do the same process for the attunements for everyone.  However, from the client's point of view NO! Every Reiki attunement experience is completely unique, ranging from not feeling much or anything at all to a wonderful experience with lots of new energy flowing.  Some people see lights/colours/symbols, others don't see anything.  For each attunement that you take - the experience will be different and the energy feels different or you may feel it in a different part of your body.

Can you tailor the attunement to an individual?

Healing That Feeling has a client base from all over the world, so most of the attunements I do are distant attunements. However, if I was asked to perform an individual attunement or live group attunement, yes I would be able to tailor it to a specific individual or specific requirement.

I use Reiki but how can I combine it with EFT?

I get asked this question quite a lot now and it is actually quite simple.  Personally I like to use Reiki at the beginning of session (usually starting on the Crown Chakra/top of the head) and then do a session of EFT.  When used in combination with Reiki, EFT becomes even more powerful with wonderful energy shifts.  If the session is dealing with some unpleasant emotions or memories, use Reiki at the end to relax yourself (or your client).  If it is a telephone session, I rarely use Reiki with clients.  However, before the session, I always use it on myself and ask my higher self to help guide me during the session and give the client the best possible outcome from the session.  Clients usually know when the energy is flowing freely and I believe that Reiki helps with this process, even when I am not using directly on a client.

Beginners Guide to 'Healing That Feeling'

I am overwhelmed with my emotions, where do I start?

This is very common and many clients that come to me are feeling very stressed or totally overwhelmed with their specific issues or problem.  From the point of view of the Healing That Feeling formula, I always advise to concentrate on reducing the stress and starting to breathe properly first.   Here's why;

When we are very stressed (and overwhelm adds to this stress, so it's all part of the bigger picture) we don't breathe properly.  Our chest becomes tense, we hold our breath without even realising we are doing it, and this adds to the feeling of stress - this is actually the start of a panic attack!  The symptoms become worse and we then stop breathing completely as our chest is so tight by this point that no oxygen is getting through.  We become lightheaded and cannot think straight (our brains need oxygen to function so we actually go a bit loopy!). 

This happens to me if I don't control my stress levels, and I know it happens to many of you. 

There are 3 simple ways to combat this and here are a few;

1)  For a few minutes a day, EVERYDAY, de-stress and concentrate only on your breathing.  Turn off your phone, the TV, computer and make sure you will not be disturbed by your loved ones and just breathe deeply and slowly.  I guarantee that this will improve your stress levels within 7 days.

2)  If you find it hard to not think about things when you are having your 5 minutes of breathing-only time, try watching this video as an aid.  Or get a similar soundtrack to go on your MP3 - and breathe along to the slow rhythm.


3)  Spend time in nature (your garden is a great start if you have a quiet one), the beach is fantastic if you are near one, but go out of normal 'tourist' hours, or just spend time with your pets - our pets are clinically proven to reduce stress!  Try it; just spend a few moments sitting with in your garden, walking on the beach or stroking your dog/cat and breathe deeply. Let go of all of your stress each time you exhale.

Once you have gained some feelings of control back you can start to deal with the real problem issues - your core issues.


What are Limiting Beliefs?  Have I got them?  How to I get rid of them?

Firstly, yes, we all have them.

Limiting beliefs are usually created when we are very young, under 6 years old. They are like programmes that our subconscious mind creates when we learn from our environment (our parents, teachers and peers etc). The problem is, our mind treats these programmes as FACTS and they are not facts, only our beliefs, sometimes they are not even our beliefs but our parents or peers.

They effect all of our life – have a look around you and you may be able to ‘see’ some of your limiting beliefs. Are you struggling to find a partner that loves, respects and treats you well? It is likely that you have limiting beliefs such as ‘I don’t deserve to be loved’ or even that ‘marriages are unhappy’. Remember these ‘beliefs’ are not necessarily YOUR beliefs, they may have come from your parents or even your grandparents.

Unfortunately, as these programmes live in our subconscious mind, they are quite difficult to erase as we cannot actually hear them (the thoughts that you hear are you conscious mind). But by using a system of techniques such as journaling and EFT, you can firstly establish what your limiting beliefs are, and then start to erase these old programmes and replace them with more positive ones.

Does positive thinking really work?  Why is positive thinking not working for me? 

Yes and no.  Yes it works and it is really important that you keep a positive mindset so that you can manefast more of the things into your life that you want (rather than attracting more negativity).  But if you have severe problems such as depression, anxiety, phobias or past trauma, this is easier said than done and therefore, it's important to deal with the negative issues in your life first, before worrying too much about the positives. 

Once you neutralise the negative, you should be aiming to replace those thoughts and emotions with positive ones; this is where affirmations come into their own.  They really do help you to manefest your dreams. But if you are finding that positive affirmations are not working, it is because your negative emotions are stronger and need to be dealt with first.


How do I get over my problem, I just can't seem to move on?

If you are truly ready to move on and let go of your past or feelings of negativity, you CAN do it.  If you are finding it impossible to make progress or feel stuck and don't how to move forward, it probably just means that you need guidance to do it.  Please have a look at the Healing That Feeling Coaching Packages, but there is lots of help available, in many different formats to those who really want to move on.

How can I turn my negative thoughts into positive ones?

Using Energy Healing to neutralise the negative emotions, memories or thoughts that you have.  EFT is perfect for specific events, but if it is more of a 'big picture' feelings and not a specific incident, Emotrance, TAT or Zpoint all work really well for general feelings of negativity or for example if you have old memories but you cannot remember details. There is always a way, so never give up, just get help!  The Healing That Feeling Programme may be able to help you.
